This Tour covers Tsedang and Samye, the ancient capital of Tibetan Kings, from where the Tibetan civilization evolved and flourished. We will visit the first building and palace of the first Tibetan King of Tibet; Yumbulakhang and the ancient Tombs of former Tibetan Kings. We will also visit Mindroling and Samye monastery, the first monastery of Tibet from where Buddhism took its root in Tibet. After visiting Potala Palace, Jokhang temple and other major sites in Lhasa, we will explore Ganden Monastery east of Lhasa, one of the most spectacular sites of Tibet built in 1490 which once housed over 4000 monks. The tour involves observation of ancient Tibetan culture, religion and the exploration of deeper insights into the fabrics of the Tibetan Buddhist way of life; past, present and future. This tour can be started from Tibet coming from Chengdu and Beijing or from Kathmandu

  • Day 1: Arrival in Tibet, Gongkhar airport and drive to Tsedang
  • Day 2: Tour of Tsedang - visit Yumbulakhang, the Tombs of ancient Tibetan Kings
  • Day 3: Drive to Samye - visit Mindoling and Samye monastery
  • Day 4/6: drive to Lhasa (3650m) - visit Potala Palace, Jokhang temple, Barkhor square, Sera Monastery/Drebung Monastery
  • Day 7: day trip to Ganden and back to Lhasa
  • Day8: transfer to airport trip conclude
